Image Making
For this project we created two images based on a pair of rhyming words. The first step was to list a bunch of rhyming words and create sketches for each one reflecting back on the techniques used in the Graphic Translation project. We need to combine the two words and make them one without making it too literal. We then narrowed down to two  final images.
Blocks Clocks
Bee Key
The two words that I decided to make into final images were blocks clocks and bee key. When presenting my sketches to the class during a critique, I got good feedback on these two ideas and decided to move forward with them. I saw other examples of how bee key was illustrated and I had an idea that I thought was unique. Instead of using the whole bee's body, in my final, I morphed the bee's body into a key shape. For the blocks clocks design I came up with the idea of combining a kids block so it was readable that it was a block and clock. When drawing my sketches, I made sure that they had the same iconic and symbolic qualities that I expressed in my Graphic Translation Project. The ideas for the images needed to be readable and understandable to turn into finals.
